More big matches have been announced for the 150th card spectacular at the Louisville Gardens!• Due to their three wild singles bouts, Dan “The Beast” Severn will take on the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal, death-defying Sabu in a No-Disqualification Match! Severn hopes to get another shot at Sabu’s uncle The Sheik and the Southern Heavyweight title, but will go after the Bombay madman first. • Jim Cornette’s trio of The Midnight Express and Justin Credible will take on “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Bruiser Brody, and Giant Baba in a huge six-man tag team contest! Baba has joined forces with Snuka and Brody to go after the Singapore cane swinging Credible, who scored a cheap upset on him. It has been announced that Brody and Snuka will receive a shot at the World Tag Team titles in December, but they still want to get a decisive win over “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis. • In a special attraction, former USWA Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski will return to battle his current rival, the wild Yukon Eric! These two big men started feuding in the IWA in Canada, when Kowalski tore off Eric’s ear with a Bombs Away during a match! They have battled all the over world and will bring their heated feud to the USWA. Capt. Lou Albano announced that he will be in the corner for Kowalski, whom he used to manage here. • Speaking of the Captain, his new tag team The Killer Bees (not to be confused with B. Brian Blair and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell) will debut on Thanksgiving night. Lance Russell tried to get Albano to give more details as to who his team members are, but the rubber banded manager wouldn’t budge. Albano hinted however, that the duo may show up unexpectedly.
Before the big Thanksgiving night card, another huge card will come to Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN on November 16! • In a rematch from last week and a prelude to the six-man contest on Thanksgiving night, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody will take on The Midnight Express. This feud has heated up, now that Snuka and Brody are scheduled for the next Tag Team title shot in a USWA ring. Plus “Beautiful” Bobby’ use of a chain didn’t make Brody too happy! Which tag team will walk away victorious? • In another tag team battle, Team RPW members Richard Hutton and Dan “The Beast” Severn will take on the unexpected team of Sabu and Justin Credible. Abdullah Farouk made a deal with Jim Cornette for his bodyguard to team with the daredevil Sabu for one night, even though the two men were wrestling each other a few weeks ago in Dallas. Cornette said that if Credible can chop down a giant (Baba), he can slay “The Beast”. Credible didn’t have too much to say about the arrangement. Can he and Sabu work together or will Team RPW outwrestle the brawlers? • Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine will take on former rival “Jumping” Jim Brunzell. Remember, Valentine was partially responsible for The Killer Bees’ departure from the USWA last year. Plus, Capt. Lou Albano hopes “The Hammer” will wear down Brunzell before The Killer Bees (his version) make their debut. Will Valentine gain another victory in his impressive winning streak? • Two tag teams will do battle as the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy collide with former champs The Road Warriors. The Legion of Doom were the first duo to pin the Heenan Family team, but Animal lost his cool and got DQ’d in their title opportunity last month. Superstar and Bundy certainly aren’t backing down, taking on Hawk and Animal before defending against Brody and Snuka next month. Who will win this battle of behemoth teams? • In the first half of the double main event, The Sheik will put his Southern Heavyweight title on the line against former champ Frank Gotch. Gotch wants to end The Sheik’s evilness and win the gold for Team RPW. Can he do it or will Sheik’s sadistic ways reign supreme? • In the second main event, World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel will take on “The Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras in an Alley Fight Match! This will be a non-title match and for the champ it is more about the revenge, as Mascaras gave him a concussion this year, as well as injured his arm. But don’t count the luchador out as he’d loved to get a win over the champ, especially in a match that many experts feel is a specialty for him. Who will win what will surely be a grueling bout? All this plus Rikidozan in action before his shot at the World Heavyweight title, Danny Hodge, “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. and more bouts!

A historic card and we’re not even to Thanksgiving night yet!
November 16, 2007 Card #149: Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN
1) “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke won the opener against The Flying Redheads. While these two teams have had somewhat of a rivalry, there was even more on the line as the winners would receive a shot at the AWA World Tag Team champions on Thanksgiving night, as part of a special exchange between the AWA and the USWA. (More on that later.) This was a back-and-forth bout, as The Redheads had the early advantage, but the bizarre duo of Doring and Luke gave them a fight. Both Doring and Red Bastien wore the crimson masks in this one, with Red seeing red after getting clocked with Luke’s “lucky” horseshoe on the floor, while Doring distracted Frank Morrell. The Hillbilly would tag in and slam Bastien with his Hillbilly Drop and pick up the big win to earn the shot at the AWA titles. ****½
2) “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. pinned B. Brian Blair. The Killer Bee looked very impressive against the elder Orton, getting several nearfalls on him. But when climbing up the ropes, Orton fell against the ropes and crotched Blair. He worked over Blair for a couple of minutes, before hitting the piledriver for the victory. Orton looks focused on his bout with Ed “Strangler” Lewis. **¾
3) Danny Hodge picked up another quick win over Virgil. The Team RPW member applied a sleeper in the opening minute, but Virgil quickly reached the ropes, knowing that the hold put down his associate Danny Doring last week. Virgil dropped to his knees after being released from the hold and Hodge immediately took advantage, nailing his famous Oklahoma side roll. The pinning combination put Virgil down for the three-count. DUD
4) Despite not really liking each other, Sabu and Justin Credible worked together to score a big win over Team RPW members Richard Hutton and Dan Severn. Credible used the Singapore cane early on, on Hutton, while Jim Cornette distracted Tommy Marlin, but couldn’t keep Hutton down. Hutton and Severn were focused and pounded on Sabu, getting several nearfalls on him and busting him open after one of “The Beast’s” fireman’s carry slams. Sabu tagged out to Credible, who took some punishment as well, but eventually gained the advantage on Severn. Sabu came back in and hit an Arabian moonsault (basically a sunset flip/power bomb combination to the floor) on Severn. It looked like that would bring a countout victory, but with Hutton’s help and encouragement Severn climbed in just before the count of 10. Still “The Beast” was weakened. Sabu applied the Camel Clutch, but Severn wouldn’t give. He released the hold and then took a chair from Abdullah Farouk. Sabu hit the triple jump moonsault, although barely hit Severn, overshooting him. Still Severn was weakened from the Arabian moonsault and it was enough to put him down for the pin. Right after the bell, Credible jumped in the ring and cracked Hutton again with the cane. Sabu then grabbed the table that Lance Russell and Dave Brown were sitting at and brought it into the ring. Credible held Severn on the table, while Sabu set up the chair again and hit another triple jump moonsault, breaking the table! It also broke Severn’s ribs. Farouk handed Cornette a large amount of bills while he laughed with delight. Frank Gotch and Danny Hodge came down to check on their fallen teammates, while the rulebreakers made their way to the locker room. ***¼
5) It took a few minutes to clean up the wreckage from Sabu and Credible, but once a new table was brought out for the announcers, the next bout was on! “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody got a pinfall win over The Midnight Express, in a remarkable comeback. “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis worked on the “Superfly” early on, double teaming him with their specialties, like the Double Goozle and Condrey suplexing Snuka onto Eaton’s knee. “Superfly” was busted open by “Loverboy” Dennis’ face-first leg sweep. Brody tagged in and nailed Eaton with a jumping knee drop, but Jim Cornette distracted Tommy Marlin. The Midnights double teamed Brody, until Snuka tagged back in. Eaton surprised him quickly with a small package, but they were close to the corner, so Brody booted Eaton to break up the pin attempt. Eaton pulled out a small chain, which seems to have become a staple for him, and punched “Superfly” with it, causing the blood to flow even more. Marlin checked Snuka’s cut and was close to stopping the match, but Snuka continued to fight back. Snuka dove and made the “hot tag” to Brody, which rocked Freedom Hall. Brody went to town on both Midnights. He hit a second knee drop on “Beautiful” Bobby, but “Loverboy” Dennis made the save. Snuka, drenched in blood, came in and nailed Condrey with a big flying head butt, taking both wrestlers to the floor. Brody slammed Eaton with one hand, then delivered a third knee drop. He made the cover and got the three-count, in a great comeback and a great win before Snuka and Brody challenge for the tag team gold. ****½
6) Rikidozan scored an impressive victory before he challenges for the USWA World Heavyweight championship, dominating and destroying “Playboy” Buddy Rose. The Japanese superstar busted Rose open with several chops and forearm shots. After several hiplocks, Rikidozan scored the pinfall. ¼*
7) Greg Valentine’s nine-match winning streak came to an end, thanks to “Jumping” Jim Brunzell…well, sort of! “The Hammer” came out strong against Brunzell, applying the figure-four leglock on four occasions. But to the Bee’s credit, he was able to reach the ropes or break free. Brunzell rolled to the arena floor for a breather. Meanwhile, B. Brian Blair, recovered from his earlier match, came down to encourage his partner. While the Texas champion was arguing with Frank Morrell, Blair put on his Bee mask, then grabbed his partner’s mask and had him put it on as well. He rolled Brunzell under the ring, then hopped into the ring. Blair held his leg, pretending to be Brunzell, who had been in the figure-four. As Valentine went to attack him, Blair jumped up and applied his sleeperhold. “The Hammer” made the ropes, but Blair kept up his attack. He applied the sleeper several more times, until Valentine finally went out. The crowd popped big at what they had seen. Capt. Lou Albano realized what had happened and tried to protest to Morrell. When the official wouldn’t listen, Albano waved towards the locker room. Suddenly Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell came running down and jumped Blair. They pulled off the Bee mask, revealing that it was Blair, then nailed Morrell with a double clothesline. Bagwell went to the floor, pulled Brunzell from under the ring, then threw him into the ring. He and Beefcake double teamed The Bees, stomping on Brunzell’s leg. Beefcake woke up his former Dream Team partner Valentine and it became a three-on-two attack. Once the damage was done, Albano went over to Lance Russell, who asked the Captain if this was his new team. Albano responded, “That’s right, daddy! This is Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell—The Killer B’s! Not like the insects, but the letter ‘B’!” The four men returned to the locker room, as Freedom Hall pelted them with boos! ****
8) The Road Warriors made short work of the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy. The Heenan Family duo, who was once undefeated and dominant, seem to be feeling the pressure of being tag champs, as they’ve dropped some non-title matches recently. The Legion of Doom were focused on getting another shot. They kept Superstar in the ring the whole match. They hit Superstar with the Doomsday Device, but Bobby Heenan distracted Jerry Calhoun. The Warriors hit Superstar with a double clothesline, which took him up and over the ropes to the floor. The masked man was almost counted out, but just got back in the ring. The Warriors hit another Doomsday Device. Animal went and knocked Bundy off the apron to ensure no interference, while Paul Ellering locked “The Brain” in a full nelson to keep him from interfering. Hawk covered Superstar and got the pin. ¼*
I’ll post the double main event results in a little while. What a great card!

9) In the first of two main events, The Sheik put the Southern Heavyweight title on the line against Frank Gotch. Back in April, Sheik defeated Gotch in Knoxville for his first Southern title. Despite many tag team and singles bouts, Gotch had yet to score a pin or submission win over The Sheik. He was looking to join the ranks of fellow Team RPW members Dick Hutton and Dan Severn as the only USWA wrestlers to have beaten The Sheik, as well as capture his second Southern title.
It was the champion starting strong against the challenger, pummeling him and working the forehead, applying the Camel Clutch, but unable to get the submission. Sheik went to the second rope for a knee drop, but missed and hit hard. Gotch focused his attack on the knee for the remainder of the bout, applying the rolling knee bar, as well as the Gotch Toehold several times, but Sheik managed to hang on. Both men ended up bleeding, but the champion was in greater danger. Gotch applied a crossface and barred the arm, but Abdullah Farouk distracted Tommy Marlin. Gotch went for the toehold again. Farouk got up on the ring apron a second time. Dick Hutton went after Farouk, trying to pull him down. But instead Gotch released the hold and nailed Farouk with a big forearm smash sending him flying! He locked on the knee bar again. Sheik fought for the ropes for over two minutes, before taping out! Gotch finally achieved victory and captured his second Southern Heavyweight championship! Hutton jumped in the ring to congratulate Gotch. Danny Hodge joined them as well. Dan Severn had been taken to the hospital, but was happy to find out later that his teammate had beaten their hated rival. *****
10) After an intermission, in which the ring crew cleaned Sheik’s blood off the mat, the second main event began. World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel took on Mil Mascaras in a non-title Alley Fight Match. Bockwinkel was looking to avenge two injuries suffered thanks to Mascaras, while the luchador was hoping to score a victory over the champ, even if the title was not at stake. The rules again were that after a pinfall or submission was scored, referee Jerry Calhoun would administer a 10-count. If a wrestler could not answer the count, his opponent would be declared the victor.
The first fall was actually very long and grueling, as both wrestlers were busted open during the first fall. Bockwinkel used his sleeper a few times, but mainly focused on Mascaras’ legs, slamming them into the ringpost and applying the figure-four leglock on several occasions. Mascaras would utilize both his crossbody attack and flying body press to wear down Bockwinkel and try and gain victory. Bockwinkel scored a submission in the first fall, as well as in the second and third falls. Mascaras’ leg was hurt, but he managed to get to his feet and continue each time. It looked like Bockwinkel was on his way to a sure victory, but “The Man of 1,000 Masks” was not done. Despite the injured leg, Mascaras climbed the ropes and hit a beautiful flying body press to get a three-count. Bockwinkel wasn’t too hurt and got to his feet. The champ came back and began to beat on the luchador. Bobby Heenan gave him a steel chair, which was totally legal in this bout. Bockwinkel brought the chair into the ring, but Mascaras thought on his feet and executed a big dropkick, kicking the chair right into Bockwinkel’s face! He covered the champion and scored a pinfall. Fans were delighted to see Bock get a taste of his own medicine. Bockwinkel was knocked woozy, but still answered the bell. Mascaras hit a crossbody attack in the next fall, the same move that gave Bockwinkel a concussion earlier this year. It put Bock down for the fall, but he answered the bell again. Mascaras would utilize a submission hold—the octopus to get a win. But again, Bockwinkel got to his feet. Mascaras scored another pinfall with the crossbody attack. Bockwinkel was coated in blood, but still held in there. Mascaras hit a sunset flip, but Bobby Heenan jumped in the ring to break up the pin attempt. “The Brain” quickly jumped back out to escape an onslaught from Mascaras. Mascaras applied the octopus again, but Heenan again jumped in and nailed Mascaras in the back. The luchador shook it off and nailed “The Brain” with a big dropkick, sending the manager out of the ring and to the floor. Mascaras whipped Bockwinkel into the ropes and came back at him with another crossbody attack. He pinned Bockwinkel again. Calhoun put the count on Bockwinkel, who lay covered in blood. Bockwinkel could not get to his feet and Mascaras was declared the winner! The other Heenan Family members came down to ringside, to check on their manager, but also on Bockwinkel who had to be helped to the back. It was not revealed what injuries, if any, Bockwinkel suffered, but he didn’t look good at all. And he has to defend the title against Rikidozan in six days! *****
Coming up later…the full line-up for 150th card on Thanksgiving night!

AWA-USWA TALENT EXCHANGE The USWA has announced a one-time exchange with the AWA (American Wrestling Association). The AWA World Tag Team champions Johnny and Greg Valentine will defend on the USWA’s 150th card on Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens against the USWA team of Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. USWA fans are very familiar with the Valentines. Greg has been splitting time between the USWA, where he is the Texas champion, and the AWA. His father Johnny was the inaugural USWA World Heavyweight champion and held the USWA Tag Team titles with his son. The Valentines were undefeated in the USWA in 2004. Johnny appeared at the WMC-TV studios on November 17 with Greg. Capt. Lou Albano stated that “his” men would easily beat Doring and Luke. Johnny didn’t seem too thrilled by that statement, but his son intervened and said that this is a one-time appearance for his father in the USWA. In exchange, the USWA World Tag Team titles will be on the line on November 23 on an AWA card at the St. Paul Civic Center, when champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy defend against former USWA and AWA champions The Road Warriors. Hawk and Animal, much like Greg Valentine, have wrestled in AWA when not scheduled on USWA cards and are very well-known to the local fans. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan stated that he is disappointed that he cannot attend the AWA card, where he used to manage, but he will be busy managing USWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel as well as Bob Orton, Sr. the night before in Louisville. At this point, there are no future plans for exchanges between the USWA and the AWA. Check back in a while for the full line-up for Thanksgiving night!

Here is the full line-up for the huge 150th USWA card on November 22, Thanksgiving night, at the Louisville Gardens!
• The newest Team RPW member Danny Hodge will tangle with S.D. Jones. Hodge has won his first two matches in quick time. Although his win-loss record isn’t the greatest “Special Delivery” can put up a fight against any opponent! • The Sheik will go one-on-one with Virgil. You can bet The Sheik will be fired up after losing the Southern Heavyweight title and poor Virgil has to do battle with him! • Know we know that Capt. Lou Albano’s new team is The Killer B’s—Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell! The B’s will debut against the formidable duo of The Flying Redheads. Beefcake has competed in the USWA in the past, teaming with Greg Valentine as The Dream Team. Bagwell was embarrassed in his only USWA match in 2005, when he was eliminated first in the Battle Royal at New Year’s Knockout II, to determine the inaugural USWA Texas champion. Ironically Bagwell was thrown out by B. Brian Blair! The B’s could be an tough team, but can they get by the exciting Redheads? • In a special attraction, former Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski returns to take on his hated rival the wild Yukon Eric. Eric has been in Louisville all week making public appearances and performing any wild antics that the fans have dared him to do. Kowalski will have one possible advantage, as his former manager in the USWA Capt. Lou Albano will accompany him to the ring for this bout. Who will win this battle of the big men? • Antonio Inoki returns to the ring for the first time since losing the USWA World Heavyweight title to Nick Bockwinkel. He’ll take another two-time former champion “Playboy” Buddy Rose. This will be the first time the two former champs have met in the ring and both are looking for a victory to get back in the title hunt. • A big six-man tag team bout will take place as “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Bruiser Brody, and Giant Baba will take on The Midnight Express and Justin Credible! Manager Jim Cornette claims his men will come out on top, because they have more experience as a unit, and Cornette will have the “hometown advantage” in Louisville. How will the fans react to the “Louisville Slugger”? Past appearances for Cornette haven’t proven to be favorable! • In another special attraction as part of the previously mentioned talent exchange, USWA Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine teams with his father Johnny to defend the World Tag Team titles of the AWA against “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. The Valentines are a rough and ready team. Doring and Luke hold upsets in the USWA, but usually due to illegal tactics. Can the unorthodox duo upset the Valentines and shock the world? • Dan “The Beast” Severn was scheduled to do battle with his rival Sabu in a No-Disqualification Match, but after last week in Johnson City, Severn is questionable after suffering broken ribs. Team RPW has made no public statement either way as to whether or not Severn will appear. As an interesting note, neither Southern Heavyweight champion Frank Gotch nor “coach” Richard Hutton is scheduled to compete on this card. As always, card is subject to change, so stay tuned! • A big grudge match will take place as Louisville’s own Ed “Strangler” Lewis returns from a neck injury to battle “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. Lewis wants to get one more match with Orton before he takes on Nick Bockwinkel. Remember, no Heenan Family members are allowed at ringside for this bout. (Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy for sure will not be there, as they will be in Minnesota for the World Tag Team title defense the following night.) Can former champ Lewis get the win? • The main event will be for the USWA World Heavyweight championship. Three-time and current title holder Nick Bockwinkel will put the belt on the line against the 11-0 Rikidozan! USWA fans have been clamoring for this bout. But the champion’s physical status is in question after his loss to Mil Mascaras in the Alley Fight Match. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan wouldn’t give any details on Bockwinkel’s condition, but said his man is ready to fight and put an end to Rikidozan’s “15 minutes of fame”. The usual eloquent and boastful Bockwinkel was quiet during the interview. He had several bruises and stitches on his face from the bout with Mascaras. Will his third reign turn out to be a quick one or will the champ pull off a miraculous victory?
That’s Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens! Enjoy the big meal with your family, then head on out to the Gardens for this historical wrestling event!

Glad you like the fed, Styx! Here's the results of a historic card!
November 22, 2007 Card #150: Louisville Gardens
1) Danny Hodge continued his winning ways with a win over “Special Delivery” Jones. S.D. lasted a little bit longer than Danny Doring and Virgil, but the Oklahoman scored another victory with his famed Oklahoma side roll. Hodge showed respect for Jones by shaking hands with him afterwards. DUD
2) The Sheik pinned Virgil. The bodyguard started off with some good punches, but Sheik pulled out his sharp object to gain the advantage. Sheik would use an elbow drop to the throat on Virgil to score the pinfall. ¼*
3) The Flying Redheads spoiled The Killer B’s’ first USWA match together with a victory in an exciting tag team match. This was back-and-forth match, although The Redheads were able to get more pin attempts, perhaps due to more in-ring time together. Billy Red Lyons went for the sleeper on Brutus Beefcake early, but Capt. Lou Albano distracted Tommy Gilbert. Lyons attempted the figure-four leglock as well, but Buff Bagwell intervened. The B’s came back and almost got a countout win, when Bagwell hit a neckbreaker on Lyons on the floor, but Lyons just beat the count back in. Both B’s were busted open, when Red Bastien hit two atomic drops on Bagwell, but again the Captain got involved. Beefcake dodged a flying sledge from Lyons and nailed him with his flying knee smash for a nearfall. The end came out of nowhere, when Bagwell attempted a spinning neckbreaker on Lyons, but Lyons blocked it and turned it into a small package for the 1-2-3. As The Redheads celebrated, The B’s threw a fit and protested their loss. ****½
4) In the first of two special attractions, former USWA Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski scored a hard fought victory over his rival Yukon Eric. Kowalski had the advantage at the beginning of the bout, hitting a body slam at the opening bell and going for a cover, but only getting a two-count. Eric came back and picked up Kowalski into his Kodiak Krunch (an over-the-shoulder backbreaker), but Kowalski managed to grab the ropes. Kowalski locked on his face claw throughout the bout, grinding more pressure onto Eric’s side of his face, where Kowalski tore his ear off, drawing blood on Eric. Kowalski landed a Bombs Away, the same move that he tore the Eric’s ear off with. The Louisville Gardens crowd got behind Eric’s toughness, but it wasn’t enough as Kowalski finally put him down for the pin with another claw. Capt. Lou Albano celebrated with his former charge. ****½
5) “Playboy” Buddy Rose shocked the world with a huge upset, pinning Antonio Inoki. Inoki started strong, hitting the enzuigiri and locking on the octopus, but “Sensational” Sherri Martel distracted Paul Morton. Rose managed to reverse a whip into the turnbuckle and sent Inoki crashing in hard, head-first. Rose went up to the top rope and hit a Bombs Away, but only got a two-count. Inoki was still shaken up and dazed, so Rose took advantage and hit a second Bombs Away to score the shocking pinfall. Rose is only the third man in the USWA to score a pin or submission on Inoki, after Nick Bockwinkel and “Strangler” Lewis. **¼ 6) A big six-man tag team bout was up next, as Giant Baba, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, and Bruiser Brody gained a victory over The Midnight Express and Justin Credible. This was a wild back-and-forth bout. The “Louisville Slugger” Jim Cornette got showered with boos in his hometown before the match. Mama Cornette must have not had a happy Thanksgiving to see her boy treated that way! “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey double teamed the big Baba, busting him open in the opening minutes, after Condrey hit him with Jim Cornette’s tennis racket on the floor, then hit his face-first leg sweep. While the move drew blood, it couldn’t beat the Japanese giant. Condrey took some punishment from Snuka and Brody, who showcased their teamwork. Eaton came back in, but “Superfly” took over again. He hit the Superfly Leap, but Condrey and Credible broke up the pin. Brody and Baba jumped in and took them out, as Baba chopped Credible to the floor. (The two didn’t pair off many times during this bout.) Brody threw out Condrey, then stood in the corner to be legally tagged in. He dropped a big jumping knee drop on “Beautiful” Bobby to put him down for the second card in a row. ****
7) In the second special attraction, USWA Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and his father Johnny Valentine (the first USWA World Heavyweight champ) successfully defended their AWA World Tag Team titles against “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. The Louisville fans were very respectful and gave Johnny a big cheer for his one-night return. Greg wasted little time in blasting the hillbilly Luke with a clothesline right at the bell and getting a very nearfall. Luke and Doring tried their best, but it was the Valentines’ night, as they tagged in and out and punished the bizarre duo with their stiff offense. Greg locked Danny in the figure-four leglock, which Doring felt last month in Dallas during their Texas title match. Luke jumped in to save his partner, but was met by Johnny’ Atomic Skullcrusher! Doring was left with no choice but to tap out. Capt. Lou Albano came down afterwards to celebrate with the AWA champs, although Johnny showed little interest in the rubber banded manager! *½
8) Nobody was sure whom Sabu would be facing in a No-Disqualification Match, after the Bombay madman broke the ribs of Dan “The Beast” Severn. But suddenly Severn walked out with his coach, Richard Hutton and his ribs heavily bandaged! Sabu had the early advantage, launching himself several times off a chair with Air Sabu and a flying body splash in the corner. He hit Severn with the chair, then set it up to attempt the triple jump moonsault—the same move that broke Severn’s ribs. Sabu went for it, but Severn moved out of the way, causing Sabu to hit the mat hard. Severn immediately went for the wakigatame, which got a big pop from the crowd. Sabu managed to make the ropes. (Even though it was No-Disqualification, the ropes were still considered “out of bounds”, so a fall couldn’t be scored.) Severn then stretched Sabu for several minutes with the bow and arrow. He threw Sabu with the fireman’s carry slam, dropping him on his head and busting him open. Sabu did make a comeback and had Severn against the ropes. But the former Southern champion got away and nailed Sabu with a series of stiff knee smashes to Sabu’s bloody head. Sabu was knocked out and Severn covered him, working in a half nelson and scoring the pinfall. Despite what looked to be impossible odds, “The Beast” gained a measure of revenge on his rival! ***
9) With The Heenan Family barred from ringside, Ed “Strangler” Lewis got a very quick DQ win over “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. Lewis naturally got a big cheer in his hometown. He was in control of Orton in the first minute, having one counter hold after the other for Orton. He locked in a full nelson and held on tight, taking Orton down to one knee. Orton, perhaps panicking without Bobby Heenan at ringside and the crowd against him, was able to use a free hand to punch Jerry Calhoun! Orton then broke the full nelson with a low kick to the “Strangler”. Calhoun immediately called for the bell, disqualifying Orton. The Gardens were about to riot at such a short match with a “cheap” ending. Orton brought a chair into the ring and was going to piledrive Lewis on it, but Lewis recovered and back dropped out of the hold! He then locked on the Strangler’s Headlock and threw Orton down to the canvas. Orton struggled, but tapped out repeatedly, even though the bout was over. Lewis was a man possessed and it took several USWA referees and officials to pull him off! The crowd settled down and cheered Lewis, seeing him the victor. Orton looked in rough shape and had to be helped to the back. Neg*
10) After an intermission, the main event was on. Nick Bockwinkel, despite injuries from a grueling Alley Fight Match less than a week earlier against Mil Mascaras, put the World Heavyweight title on the line against the undefeated Rikidozan. Bockwinkel of course had his manager, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, in his corner, while the challenger was accompanied by fellow countrymen Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki. Baba and Inoki were there more to watch over their mentor, rather than interfere, as often happens in Japan. The two wrestlers started slow and showcased great scientific wrestling, although the Japanese superstar seemed to gain the advantage more often than not. Bockwinkel got a backslide out of nowhere, but Rikidozan quickly kicked out. Soon it was all Rikidozan, as he hit several hiplocks and thunderous chops, which wore down the already wounded champ. While Rikidozan was delivering chops, Heenan got up on the apron to get involved, but was met with a chop himself and went flying off the apron! Inoki and Baba hauled “The Weasel” up the aisleway to keep him away from the action. Rikidozan threw Bockwinkel down with a hiplock and rolled into a press. Jerry Calhoun counted the 1-2-3 and a new champion was crowned! Inoki and Baba came back down to hold up the new champ on their shoulders! Ed “Strangler” Lewis came down and shook hands with the new champion as well. Several fan favorites came down to congratulate the new champ as the Gardens cheered history being made on Thanksgiving! **

Great cards as always I agree Buddy Rose defeating Inoki is a major upset. Why is the Sheik so low on the card and going up against guys like Virgil?. The Sheik is main event status all the way IMO.

That's a fair question, CC. Sheik was kind of thrown on the card last minute to get a 10th match. Since he and Gotch just had a great match on the previous card, where Gotch finally beat him for the Southern belt, I didn't want to do a match with Gotch (or any other Team RPW member) on this card right away. I didn't want to take too much away from the Severn-Sabu No-DQ Match. And there just weren't too many other options, so poor Virgil got it. I figured it'd be a good "squash" match for Sheik to get some heat back after his loss to Gotch.
