----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
MISSING LINK (low) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) beat TERRY FUNK (low-b) with two consecutive Back Flying Headbutt finishers (Referee: Earl Hebner)
FIRST-ROUND TOURNAMENT MATCH The SHEIK (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) beat BUFF BAGWELL (low) with a Small Package, Sheik advances in the tournament (Referee: Tommy Young) --After the match, Sheik looked to be going for a fireball, and Farouk frantically managed to stop him, fearing a lengthy suspension.
Bill Apter brought out LWF World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe and former champion Tom Jenkins, and Apter noted that LWF General Manager Bill Watts had decided to have the rematch between Joe and Jenkins at Legends Of The Fall: Survival on Pay-Per-View this Sunday night, and the winner of that match would defend the belt against the winner of the tournament. Jenkins said he shouldn’t have to wrestle twice in one night, because “I think everyone realizes that this savage Samoan is little more than a one-hit wonder, and, in a wrestling match, the likes of which we’ll have Sunday night, he wouldn’t stand a chance against me.” Joe responded with, “One-hit wonder, eh? Tom Jenkins, all it‘ll take me is one hit, and you‘re going down.” Security ran into the ring as Joe and Jenkins stood nose-to-nose.
BARRY WINDHAM (low-b) beat DAVID VON ERICH (low-b) with the Sweetwater Superplex finisher (Referee: James Beard)
----------Tenay & Matysik commentary---------
NON-TITLE MATCH LWF National Heavyweight Champion “AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES (low-b) beat MR. GANNOSUKE (low-c) by disqualification when Gannosuke hit Rhodes with a chair (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
Backstage, Gene Okerlund interviewed the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express and Christopher Daniels. AS Solie and Ross mentioned earlier in the night, tonight’s main event with the Midnight Express will be for the LWF World Six-Man Tag Team Titles, and whoever loses the fall cannot team with either of his partners for one year. Ricky Morton said, “’Mean Gene,’ Jim Cornette obviously wanted this stipulation put in the match. I think he thinks we’re gonna be worried about possibly breaking up the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express. I want all out fans to know that’s NOT gonna happen! Robert and I have gone down too many roads and wrestled in too many rings to let it all come to an end tonight. And, Chris, it’s not gonna happen to you, either. You’re a good partner, and we’re looking forward to many more title defenses with you.” Daniels replied, “Ricky, thank you for the vote of confidence. Nothing would make me happier than to see one of the wheels come off the Midnight Express. Jim Cornette and his men deserve everything they have coming to them tonight!”
BOB BACKLUND (low-b) beat “HUMAN HIGHLIGHT REEL” SABU (low) with the Atomic Knee Drop finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner) --LWF World Cruiserweight Champion Ultimo Guerrero came to ringside and distracted Sabu long enough for Backlund to mount an offensive and finish things with his patented Atomic Knee Drop to get the win. Guerrero ran in after the bell and attacked Sabu, and Mr. Gannosuke ran in and attacked both men. The three battled until security and referees ran out to break it up, but not before Guerrero hit a plancha on Gannosuke as he was being led away, followed by Sabu with a springboard dive onto the mass of humanity on the floor.
FIRST-ROUND TOURNAMENT MATCH LOU THESZ (low-b) beat KEVIN VON ERICH (low-b) with the Greco-Roman Backdrop finisher; Thesz advances in the tournament (Referee: Mark Curtis)
----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
“NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) beat “RATED ’R’ SUPERSTAR” EDGE (low-c) with the Figure Four Grapevine finisher; afterwards, Rogers put Edge in the Grapevine around the ringpost and then got a chair and mercilessly beat Edge with it over the head and knee in retaliation for Edge’s One-Man Con-Chair-To weeks ago; a bloody Edge had to be carried on a gurney to a waiting ambulance (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
“MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) beat HARLEY RACE (low) with the Iron Claw finisher (Referee: D*ick Woherle)
Solie and Ross announced the pairings for the quarterfinal round of the Number One Contender’s Tournament at Legends Of The Fall: Survival Sunday night. The matches are: Ultimo Guerrero vs. David Von Erich, Sabu vs. Harley Race, Lou Thesz vs. Kerry Von Erich and Buddy Rogers vs. The Sheik. They also said the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express will defend the LWF National Tag Team Titles Sunday night against Arn & Ole Anderson, LWF Women’s World Champion Trish Stratus defends her belt against Gail Kim, and, as mentioned in the first hour, LWF World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe defends against Tom Jenkins, with the winner defending the belt the same night against the winner of the tournament.
LWF MAIN EVENT--LWF WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH--LOSING WRESTLER CANNOT TEAM WITH HIS PARTNERS FOR ONE YEAR MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton & “Sweet” Stan Lane) (low) (w/ Jim Cornette) (low) beat Champions ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) & “FALLEN ANGEL” CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (low-c) when Condrey beat Gibson with the Rocket Launcher finisher to win the belts; Gibson now cannot team with either Morton or Daniels for one year (Referee: David Manning) --Fans could not believe what they had just seen happen. As Cornette and his Midnight Express celebrated, Gibson sat up in the middle of the ring as he realized what had just happened. He and Morton hugged as Daniels did his best to console them. Many fans were seen crying at ringside. Within moments, the entire crowd picked up a “ROCK-AND-ROLL” chant. Solie and Ross speculated as to what will happen with the Rock-N-Rolls’ World and National Tag Team Titles now as air time expired.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Central on LWF World Class Weekend, hosted by Bill Mercer, on ESPN.

LWF WORLD CLASS WEEKEND MAIN EVENT DORY FUNK JR. (low-b) beat BOB BACKLUND (low-b) with the Butterfly Suplex finisher (Referee: James Beard)
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central Mondays, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (matches 1-3 and 7-9), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (matches 4-6), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
GEORGE SOUTH (low) beat “MOUNTIE” JACQUES ROUGEAU (low) by disqualification when Rougeau used his shock stick on South (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) beat NEW AGE OUTLAWS (“Bad a**” Billy Gunn & “Road Dogg” Jesse James) (low) when Smash beat Gunn with the Demolition Beatdown (Referee: Tommy Young) --The Outlaws hoped to get revenge for last week’s countout loss to Albano’s men. They gave it everything they had, but it wasn’t enough against the big men.
In the back, Gene Okerlund interviewed Ricky Morton, who beat Sabu last week in a Number One World Cruiserweight Title Contender’s Match last week. He said, “I hope I can pay back all the good wishes of the fans tonight when I step into that ring for the belt. Ultimo Guerrero, I know you’ve had a rough road as the champion. I’m gonna give you everything I have, andI expect you to give me everything you have. In the end, I hope that I’m the one to get my hand raised.” Robert Gibson came into the picture. “Ricky, I don’t mean to interrupt you, but I just want to wish you good luck tonight. I know you‘re gonna win that title.” The two former partners, their split mandated two weeks ago by terms of their loss to the Midnight Express, shook hands and hugged.
TIGER MASK (low) beat MR. GANNOSUKE (low-c) by disqualification when Gannosuke hit Tiger with a chair as Tiger came off the top rope (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes” Dugan) --The masked newcomer dazzled fans with his high flying, but he flew once too often, flying right into a steel chair wielded by Gannosuke. Dugan called for the bell as Gannosuke raised the chair, only to have Dugan grab it away. The damage was done, though, as Ultimo Guerrero ran in to protect Tiger, and Gannosuke left, grinning evilly.
----------Tenay & Matysik commentary---------
TERRY FUNK (low-b) beat “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) with the Spinning Toe Hold finisher (Referee: David Manning)
In the back, Bill Apter interviewed Jacques Rougeau, asking him why he used the shock stick on George South. Rougeau replied, “Bill Apter, you and every other American are so incredibly stupid. This George South person was committing crimes against me and all Canadians in that ring, and I had no choice but to subdue him the approved Mountie way. If you cannot handle it, as one of your Presidents said, get out of the kitchen. Buddy Rogers learned last week that you do not cross Mountie justice, Bill Apter. He deserved every volt that I shot into his body. It will be a long time before you see that lawbreaker in an LWF ring again. And, as far as every other wrestler in the LWF is concerned, I hope they all learned a valuable lesson tonight. Canadian justice WILL be served!”
ROBERT GIBSON (low-b) beat “HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) with the Gibson Leglock finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner)
LWF NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Champion “AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES (low-b) beat “PRETTY BOY” LARRY SHARPE (low) by countout to retain the belt (Referee: Earl Hebner) --Rhodes was leaving nothing to chance, hitting Sharpe with an offensive flurry that sent the “Pretty Boy” to the floor. The challenger decided he’d had enough and went to the back as he was counted out. Tenay noted that he hadn’t seen such intensity from Rhodes in some time.
----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
“SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE” SAMOA JOE (low-c) beat BARRY WINDHAM (low-b) with the Avalanche Muscle Buster finisher (Referee: D*ick Woherle)
LWF WORLD CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH RICKY MORTON (low-b) beat Champion ULTIMO GUERRERO (low-c) with the Cross Body Block finisher to win the belt (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Morton couldn’t believe he’d won the belt. After shaking hands with Guerrero, Morton jumped up and down with the belt as fans cheered, and now-former partner Robert Gibson ran out and hugged Morton in celebration.
Before the Main Event, Solie & Ross gave the first-round pairings in the World Tag Team Title tournament, to begin next week: The Steiner Brothers vs. the New Age Outlaws, the Midnight Express vs. the Von Erichs, the Minnesota Wrecking Crew vs. the Funks, and Demolition vs. Christopher Daniels & Chris Hero. Also, Number One World Heavyweight Title Contender Samoa Joe meets Buff Bagwell, newly crowned World Cruiserweight Champion Ricky Morton meets Tiger Mask in a non-title match, and Robert Gibson takes on the Missing Link, plus National Champion Dusty Rhodes and Mountie Jacques Rougeau. LWF World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz will also make an appearance.
LWF MAIN EVENT--NORTH CAROLINA STREET FIGHT “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-c) beat MINNESOTA WRECKING CREW (“Enforcer” Arn & “Rock” Ole Anderson) (low-b) when Scott beat Ole with a Backbreaker (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --This match lived up to its name as all four men went all over the arena, hitting each other with anything that wasn’t nailed down. The Steiners, though, wore the Andersons down en route to Scott scoring the pin. Ross speculated that this match could very well have taken something out of both teams for next week’s opening round of the World Tag Team Title tournament.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Central on LWF World Class Weekend, hosted by Bill Mercer, on ESPN.

ULTIMO GUERRERO (low-c) beat “HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard“ Abdullah Farouk) (low) by disqualification when Farouk tossed Sabu a chair, which he used to bash over Guerrero‘s head (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
MR. GANNOSUKE (low-c) beat “PRETTY BOY” LARRY SHARPE (low) with the Sitout Scoop Piledriver finisher (Referee: Gilberto Roman)
LWF WORLD CLASS WEEKEND MAIN EVENT BARRY WINDHAM (low-b) beat BOB BACKLUND (low-b) with the Sweetwater Superplex finisher (Referee: Tommy Young)
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central Mondays, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (hours 1 & 3), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (hour 2), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
NON-TITLE MATCH LWF National Heavyweight Champion “AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES (low-b) beat GEORGE SOUTH (low) with the Figure-Four Leglock finisher (Referee: David Manning) --Rhodes didn’t waste any time with South, quickly putting him away with the leglock and hesitating before finally breaking it at Manning’s urging.
MISSING LINK (low) (w/ Bobby “The Brain“ Heenan) (low) beat ROBERT GIBSON (low-b) with Flailing Forearms (Referee: Earl Hebner)
In the back, Gene Okerlund spoke with Dusty Rhodes, asking him where his newfound intensity came from. Rhodes replied, “’Mean Gene,’ I am getting SICK and TIRED of being taken advantage of. Everybody says, the ‘American Dream’ is a nice guy … a pussycat, if you will. You saw a guy who came in almost off the street (“Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe) beat me … BEAT ME, ’Mean Gene’ … while I was too busy being a nice guy. I made myself a promise that it won’t happen again. Don’t get me wrong, ‘Mean Gene,’ outside the ring, I’m still gonna shake hands, kiss babies and wink at all the pretty women. But, once I step between those ropes, you will see a Dusty Rhodes the likes of which you have NEVER seen, daddy! I‘m so proud of this belt, and you’re gonna have to kill me to take it away from me!”
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH “FALLEN ANGEL” CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (low-c) & CHRIS HERO (low-c) beat DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) by when Hero beat Smash with the Cravate; Daniels & Hero advance to the semifinals (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Ross termed this an upset as Daniels & Hero quickly got out of the ring while Albano threw a fit and Ax & Smash yelled and complained.
----------Tenay & Matysik commentary---------
“MOUNTIE” JACQUES ROUGEAU (low) beat KEITH ROBERTSON (low-m) with the Shock Stick finisher (Referee: Bronko Lubich) --Rougeau brought a chair into the ring, but Lubich prevented him from using it. As Lubich put the chair outside the ring, Rougeau grabbed his shock stick and shocked Robertson, tossing the stick aside before Lubich turned around and made the three-count. As Rougeau celebrated, though, a roar went up from the crowd as “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers, the victim of a vicious attack by Rougeau two weeks ago, ran to the ring and jumped the self-styled Mountie. Rougeau tried to run away, but Rogers kept up with him and fought him through the crowd and into the arena lobby, where uniformed police finally separated the two as Rougeau left the building, and Rogers headed back to the ring.
After the commercial break, Rogers called LWF General Manager Bill Watts out to the ring and asked very forcefully for a match against Rougeau at Holiday Havoc on December 16. Watts not only granted Rogers the match, he also made it a Falls Count Anywhere Match in the wake of what had just happened.
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH MINNESOTA WRECKING CREW (“Enforcer” Arn Anderson & “Rock” Ole Anderson) (low-b) beat DORY & TERRY FUNK (low-b) when Arn beat Terry with the Hammerlock Body Slam; the Andersons advance to the semifinals (Referee: Nick Patrick)
In the back, Bill Apter stood by with a man identified as Sir Oliver Humperdink, who said that he was bringing a pro football superstar to the LWF, Canadian football legend Angelo Mosca. Humperdink said Mosca would have a special challenge for anyone in the LWF, and he would explain further next week. He added, “And, beyond the challenge, Angelo Mosca has his eye on gold, CHAMPIONSHIP gold, here in the LWF!”
NON-TITLE MATCH LWF World Cruiserweight Champion RICKY MORTON (low-b) beat TIGER MASK (low) with a Dropkick (Referee: Dave Hebner) --The two men shook hands before and after the match, but, between the bells, the action was fast-paced. Morton hit a well-placed dropkick right on the point of Tiger’s chin to bring this match to an end.
----------Solie & Ross commentary---------
Before the next match, Jim Cornette took the microphone from Cappetta. “You know, I’m getting sick and tired of seeing Ricky Morton strutting around here with a title belt. I’ll be honest with you, I thought that, when we broke the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express up, I thought they’d be so ashamed, they’d leave the promotion. But, that’s okay. As long as they’re being forced to stick to the stipulations of that match, we don’t have to worry about them being involved in our pursuit of the World Tag Team Belts. So, without any further ado, let me present ‘Loverboy’ Dennis and the ‘Gangster Of Love,’ ‘Sweet’ Stan, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS!”
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Sweet” Stan Lane) (low) (w/ Jim Cornette) (low) beat DAVID & KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) when Lane beat Kerry with the Rocket Launcher finisher; the Midnight Express advance to the semifinals (Referee: James Beard) --Bobby Eaton came out to help his partners and manager celebrate, while David Von Erich just looked disgustedly at his brother before helping him up and going to the back.
“SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE” SAMOA JOE (low-b) beat BUFF BAGWELL (low) with The Choke finisher (Referee: D*ick Woherle) --LWF World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz sat in on commentary as he sized up Joe for the title match at Holiday Havoc on December 16. Joe eyed Thesz several times during the match before forcing Bagwell to tap out. Thesz applauded Joe and said he was looking forward to their match.
Solie and Ross announced that next week’s card will include the World Tag Team Title semifinals, with the Midnight Express vs. the Minnesota Wrecking Crew and Christopher Daniels & Chris Hero vs. the winners of the next match. Also, Cruiserweight Champion Ricky Morton and National Champion Dusty Rhodes will be involved in non-title contests, and, just signed, Samoa Joe faces his final test before challenging Lou Thesz for the World Heavyweight Title at Holiday Havoc as he steps into the ring against the Missing Link.
LWF MAIN EVENT--WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-c) beat NEW AGE OUTLAWS (“Bad a**” Billy Gunn & “Road Dogg” Jesse James) (low) when Rick beat Gunn with the Steiner bulldog finisher; the Steiners advance to the semifinals (Referee: Scrappy McGowan) --After the match, Christopher Daniels & Chris Hero came to the ring and had a brief staredown with the Steiners before shaking hands and saying, “may the best team win next week,” a reference to next week’s World Tag Title semifinals.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Central on LWF World Class Weekend, hosted by Bill Mercer, on ESPN.

I think I see a Heel turn by Robert Gibson, How long can he watch his former tag team partner carry around the gold ? Gibson had won a Cruiserweight match too, so how long until his shot ? Very good write ups. You have a great fed going !
