SUNDAY FEBRUARY 18TH, PORTLAND SPORTS ARENA
In our Sunday afternoon Supercard, we have an 8-man tournament for the PNW heavyweight title, the TV title is on the line and the Candian Mafia will defend their titles... to the matches
PNW TITLE FIRST ROUND:
1st match: Don Leo Jonathan v Billy Lyons In a rather disappointing match, DLJ absolutely destroyed Lyons in about 4 moves (including The Mormon Swing) time 2:42 1/2*
2nd match: The Crusher v Larry Hennig Larry Hennig made a great showing, almost pinning Da Crush after an AXE, but Crusher staved off the attack and retaliated with a CRUSHER BOL0 for the pin... time 9:37 ***
3rd match: David Schultz v The Missing Kangaroo Red Berry proved to be the difference maker here, as he was able to distract the referee on 2 separate occasions as the Kangaroo was able to connect with the chair. The second time led up to the BACK FLYING HEADBUTT for the pin... time 11:45 **1/2
4th match: Don Muraco v Yukon Eric A fantastic back and forth match that led up to Muraco using an Asiatic Spike to secure the victory... time 13:32 ***1/2
Ricky Steamboat and Ray Stevens battled to a double countout as they brawled all the way back to the dressing room... time 8:37 ** (A rematch has been signed for Thursday night's supercard... In a CAGE!!!)
5th match: Don Leo Jonathan v The Crusher a fantastic match between 2 friends and rivals that vacilated between scientific holds and out of the ring Brawling. When The Mormon Giant finally got hte pin after the 3rd SWING, Crusher shook his hand and raised his hand after the match... time 11:24 ***1/2
6th match: The Missing Kangaroo v Don Muraco After Bob Orton came and clocked Berry with a chair, The Kangaroo seemed to become lost and got dq'd after clocking Muraco with a chair. Muraco and Orton double teamed Kangaroo and Berry after the match until The Kangaroos came out to make the save... time 7:32 **
For the Tag-titles, The Canadian Mafia and The Fabulous Kangaroos contested a hot back and forth match, with both teams scoring several near falls and all 4 men having to save their partner from sure defeat. When Red Berry jumped up on the ring apron, 2 masked men leaped the barricade at ringside and clocked him with a chair, and then laid out both Costello and Heffernan with their chairs as well... The Mafia had kept the referee tied up with them, so he was unaware of the interference when LeDuc dropped the CANADIAN LEGDROP on Costello for the pin... time 19:43 ****1/2

INterestingly, if it was the Midnights, they may have helped the Mafia get the #1 seed for the World title tournament... it'll be REALLY close, depending on if either have another match...

and in the IDIOT OF THE YEAR AWARD, i forgot to post the results of the finals for the PNW title... here you go
PNW TITLE FINALS: Don Leo Jonathan v Don Muraco In perhaps the most closely contested match-up of the night, weirdjerod and CPB announced on one would be allowed at ringside for the final match. The match went back and forth several times with both men hitting their finishers twice. In the end, DLJ capitalized on Don Muraco making a rookie mistake and ducking his head after throwing the big Mormon into the ropes, DLJ came off with a surprise sunset flip for the 1-2-3... time 26:31 ****

After the match, David Schultz and Billy Lyons came down to ringside and joined the brawl. wj "Alright!!! Enough!!! Bery and the Kangaroos are going to have some explaining to do, twice!!! TWICE!!! you've no-showed for title matches!!! But for now, you nine will be in a 3-way Steel Cage elimination match this Saturday night. This interference is going to stop!!! the Stipulations will be announced Saturday..." As this is going on, the lights dim and the video screen lights up... Voice (with southern drawl...) "You should have never started something you don't know how to finish, Kangaroos..." (tape)…the tape is very shaky and slightly out of focus…you can see that it isn’t professionally done…we see a nearly empty parking lot…a large car drives up and out gets Al Costello and Roy Heffernan…they wear their Austrian hats…with khaki outfits…they both grab their gear bags and head to the dressing room…a 10 year old boy runs up to Al and asks for an autograph…Al blows him off…until Roy tells him to give the kid a break an give him an autograph…Al sighs…puts down his bag…and grabs the kid’s pad…from out of nowhere comes three men…dressed in black with ski masks…they attack the Kangaroos…screams of “Let’s get them” and “You’ve had it now” ring out…while they swing tennis rackets at the Kangaroos…of the three masked men…one is much heavier…two of the men toss Roy into the brick wall…Costello is double suplexed on the concrete…the heavier man breaks his tennis racket across Roy…the boy tugs at the heavier masked man’s clothes and holds out his hand…the man turns and starts to strike the boy…but he stops...and gives him $10…the boy cheerfully runs off…the heavier tells the other two that it’s time to get out of here…and they run off…leaving the Kangaroos laying on the pavement. (end tape)

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH, FROM THE PORTLAND SPORTS ARENA
TELEVISION TAPING #4
Dark portion of the show
1)The Roughnexx (Orton and Muraco) w/ Albano defeated the Bourne's when Tony and Don were brawling at ringside. While the ref was attempting to separate them, Albano pushed Matt, who had climbed the turnbuckle for a BOMBS AWAY, off the top rope. Orton grabbed the groggy Bourne and held him as Albano just about took his head off with a chair. Muraco held Tony's leg as Orton got the 1-2-3. After the match, Matt had to be carted out on a stretcher... time 7:21 ***1/2

3)Larry Hennig destroyed Zip Atkinson (local talent) in less than 2 minutes with THE AXE... time 1:34 1/2*
Televised portion begins
Red Berry and the Kangaroos (looking pretty rough after the attack on Thursday Night) are in the ring Berry "Cornette!!! Midnight Express!!!! This is enough!!! You cost us our shot at the PNW Tag Titles and we're sick of it!!!! I hope and pray you are able to overcome your ineptitudes to advance for the World Title at The Deuce's Wild so that we can kick your butts for the world to see!!!! But you once gave us an invite to come down south and stomp you at home. Well, if that offer still stands, and if we can finish scheduling our Lobotomies so that we are certifiably stupid enough to be accepted into your local community down there, we accept!!!! You name the date and place, we will be there. And we won't be alone... And you 2 fossils, Mayne and Savage, tonight we'll show you just how tough these kangaroos are to beat..." Berry drops the mic and all 4 men leave the ring
4)Fresh off of a free night's lodging at Portland's Downtown Hotel Pokey, Billy Jack Haynes and Rip Oliver squared off in a No-Disqualification Match. After several near falls and a lot of back and forth momentum, Haynes was finally able to nail Rip with a chair and then lock in the FULL NELSON for the victory... time 14:21 ****
Ray Stevens enters the ring and grabs the mic. "Steamboat, you may have dodged a bullet this past Thursday night, but I've got you in the cage tonight, boy!!! Your lawyer's only prolonged the inevitable and tonight is you day of reckoning!!!"
5)For the #1 contender spot for the tag titles, Mayne and Savage were able to defeat an obviously still injured Kangaroo team. Tony Bourne accompanied Savage and Mayne to ringside and effectively kept Red Berry from becoming a factor. After several minutes of back and forth wrestling, Mayne and Savage were able to isolate Heffernan and keep Costello out of the ring. The end came when Savage hit the RUNNING PILEDRIVER and Mayne was able to head off Costello as the referee made the 3-count... time 17:32 ***1/2
6)Inside of the steel cage for the TV title, Ray Stevens was able to regain the belt from Ricky Steamboat in an absolute bloodbath. The Dragon looked to have the match sewn up when Larry Hennig assaulted the referee and let himself into the cage. Steamboat made a valiant effort, but the numbers game wore him down and finally stevens was able to exit the cage while Hennig had Steamboat tied up in the ropes... time 14:21 ***

order of elimination: 1)Yukon Eric (by the Mafia) 2)Orton (by The Crusher) 3)Schultz (by LeDuc) 4)Lyons (by Hart) 5)Muraco (by the Mafia) 6)Hart (when he injured his knee coming off the top rope) 7)LeDuc (by the Crusher) 8)Crusher (by Vachon)
winners and eligible for a title shot of their choosing: The Canadian Mafia and Billy Lyons... time 27:43 ****1/2

THURSDAY, MARCH 1ST GRANT THEATER, SALEM OREGON
Afternoon Press Conferences
Don Leo Jonathan: "Well, I have no excuses to make. I proved to the world that the PNW can hang with teh best of them and I became overconfident of my size advantage against Jerry Lawler. Mr. Lawler, I wish to offer you my heartfelt congratulations. On that night, You were the better man, I only hope you are not a closet champion and will offer me the first shot at the World Title, as I believe the fans were robbed of a classic because of my arrogance. It will not be that way the next time. Thank you for your time, and I will continue to be a PNW champion you can be proud of..."
Billy Graham: "Hey, Brother, you may be the big man, but you ain't no Superstar!!! I came to this hick town Hell to bring a little prestige and class, of which you got neither. This promotion has guaranteed that if the champ offers a title shot here, I'll be in line and I ain't plannin' to let no Moron Giant take the Glory that the Good Lord destined for Billy Graham. You got a cute little belt, be happy with who you are, brother, and don't try to aim beyond your means."
security steps in to separate the 2 big men as tensions seem to be mounting, stay tuned, fans
The Canadian Mafia w/ CPB and Billy Lyons take the mic: CPB: "What the Hell is going on around here?!?!? Cornette, Express, you got damned lucky and your underhanded techniques won't be forgiven or forgotten... We are on the verge of a powerplay the likes of which you boys have no idea... If you boys got the cones..."
Red Berry: "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!!!! Don't get ahead of yourself, commish. We still got a score to settle with those boys and by Cornette's own fat mouth, we got an invite to go play in their back-yard. Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless the cowards are willing to prove they're not men of integrity, Jimmy-boy has already put us on the top of the list.. And speaking of surprises, tune in Saturday as we have one of our own..."
CPB: "Berry, we've had no problems with you so far, but let's not kid ourselves... you couldn't even make it to the tournament, what's your ranking in the DWA?? what?!?!?! You're not ranked?!?! wow, guess you should shut up and work on winning some matches instead of fighting a cross-promotional fiasco that has cost you the chance at our titles on several occasions..."
The Press Conferences conclude amidst a flurry of bantering and threats...
